Forecast is for cooler temps tomorrow. I would be interested in trying St Helena again, because it's close, I think it will probably be soarable, and I
don't want to drive 100 miles for marginally better conditions at Hull.

I have no driver this weekend. I am available to fly both days but I can't make up my mind where. Could be too windy at St. Helena and closer to the coast.
Check the wind in the morning.

I will be up at Pillsbury with Robert and Franz. If Hull is too windy (N) will probably go to Elk.

Robert and I decided to bag Hull trip for this weekend. Just seemed too low probability.

Well, not much of a flight report, but pretty exciting conditions. Jon, Ernie, Joel (from Coloma) and Charley flew. Launch conditions were pretty good, a little
cross from the right. We kept waiting for breaks in the clouds but they kept filling in as the clouds got close to hull, so we took our sled rides in the above
order. Jon found some workable lift in a few places. And I found some just in front of launch that got me 300' over but that was it and I glided down.
The unusal and exciting part was the conditions down low and the landing conditions. Past the knob we encountered increadable sink and turbulence. I had 1400 fpm down, from the knob to the ground. I came over the knob with 3K' of altitude and was on the ground in two minutes. In the end, it was a struggle just to keep the wings level and the glider pointed where I wanted to go. Forget spot landing! There was no rounding out or skimming in ground effect. There was no cussioning effect at all, as I was being driven into the ground. I whacked into the soft ground a couple hundred feet long. I think I was the only one who whacked, although everyone experienced the turbulence and sink. In retrospect, I believe the whole north end of the Pillsbury basin, including our regular LZ was in rotor from Sanhedron Mt.! It's great to be alive! Hangfly the Airhead aka Charley

Vince and I went up to Elk since he flew up in the morning. After a leisure Breakfast we went up on Elk with Rich driving for us. We got to South launch and
it was still coming in but did not set up. By 11:00 it completely filled in solid so we called it. Went down to north launch and there was a steady cold wind.
