Yes, it looks like this year's crop of digital cameras are offering 720p HD at 30 frames per second. There's a number of models now available, including the Canon SD960 IS that I used for my Yosemite video.

If you look at higher-level cameras, you'll find 1080p HD available on some models.

And, Youtube and others are letting you post HD movies online.

What this means is that it's becoming much easier to capture good video and share it. Editing it is another matter. I found that I had to buy a commercial product if I wanted to preserve my HD format through the editing process. Window's Movie Maker just doesn't cut it.
