Present: Ernie, Donna, Charlie, Andy M., Fred, Gregg H., Mike O., Mike G., Jon J., Leo, John L. and son. Visiting pilots where Reavias and Gabriel.
Ernie called the meeting to order at 7:25.
Mike Globinski presented his work that he's done to acquire land for the use of teaching Hang gliding and Paragliding in Sonoma and Marin Counties. Mike is excited about the potential of a site in north Marin county (off of Chileno Valley road) where he hopes to be able to offer beginner instruction on both low hills, scooter towing along with rides on his tandem trikes. Beginner to Intermediate hill, foot launching might be offered on the upper slopes of this one particular site. Some Sonoma Wings members expressed support and excitement about this new, local, much needed potential resource. Discussion followed about the Trikes, flight,and site for instruction aquistion. Mike says that he will offer trike rides to Sonoma Wings members for 50% off.
Calendar dates for the year 2008 where talked about and tentative dates for
The St Helena fly in; May 3-4,
St. John fly in; August 2-3,
Hull Mtn. informal fly in Sept. 13-14
and the Christmas party date is a tentative Dec. 13th were made.
The Sonoma Wings chute clinic is scheduled for Feb 9th at 9:00 at Justin's and Karen's barn. A chute clinic in Chico was talked about where Gregg H. repacked seven chutes.
Web site access issues and updating of links access issues where talked about with Ernie's offer to contact him if anyone has any problems of accessing the site or links. Anyone who has the skill and the time to help update the site where encouraged to contact Ernie. Ernie mentioned the new link that is on the home page that offers Links to those interested in finding instruction.
Jon James reported that the permits for Goat Rock and Mt. St. Helena have been submitted to the proper authorities and to USHPA. The club will need to send a check for $900.00 to USHPA for site insurance.
The USHPA mentoring committee announced that it will be chaired by WOR's Wayne Michelson. Way to go!
A soaring, weather clinic, will be held at the Williams air port Feb. 2nd.
Charlie organized a raffle for prizes with 2008 calendars, and a bottle of wine offered as prizes for those that showed up.
Offers for firsts and seconds to close the meeting where made, and voted on, and the meeting was adjourned.
