Ernie started the meeting at 7:30 with new pilots and visitors: Mike Q., Dave L., Jake Q., Reavis, and Gabe present. Members present were; Jon J., Andy M., Gregg H., Donna M., Matt J., Charlie W., Jason C., Fred., Mike O., and Bob N.
Ernie and Jon will be traveling to Colorado Springs to attend the USHPA semi-annual meeting. Congratulations to Ernie for being named the chair of the Chapter Support committee.
A discussion of the Lake Berryessa training site development and the transfer of spokesperson / contact person with BLM to Reavis took place. Wes has been working with the powers that be for a while and will be moving. Pilots were asked not to fly the site until the Probationary period is over and final approval has been granted.
The site acquisiton that Mike Globensky had been working on has fallen through but a new site in south Sonoma County has been identified and efforts to secure it are being made.
Discussion about flying in Helen Putnam Park was presented and considered.
Charlie, Safety Committee chair, talked about an incident dealing with setting up for a landing on a light wind day, flying a high performance glider and running out of LZ. Discussion about the dynamics of the incident where thoughtfully presented with landing technique and pilot judgment talked about.
The last soaring seminar of the season will be held at the Williams Airport this coming weekend.
The August St. John Fly-in Meet Head will be Leo and if needed Mike O. will Co.
The Spring Fly in scoring was talked about and Olympic scoring for the competition with the need for more officials. May 3 and 4 is the date for the St. Helena Fly in.
Talk about who and when to fly local sites was held with the best way to know who is going where and when they are going is to check the bulletin board usually the morning of the day that you want to fly.
The paper work for all of the sites is in and payed for as reported by Jon J.
