March 27, 2008 Members and guests attending: Ernie C. Matt J., Jon J., Mike O., Donna M., Charlie W., Kurt B., Andy M., Jason and Ilsa, Greg S., Gregg H., Mike Q., Jim N., Albert B., Leo J., Anthony A., Gabriel, Fred B., Cody and Rebecca.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30p.

Jason brought a pair of canoe/bar mitts for inspection and critique.

The St. Helena Spring fly in was discussed with Ernie volunteering to be the Meet Head. Pilots meeting Sat. 9:30 am at the LZ. Volunteers for judges and drivers are needed, the first 20 member pilots to register will be able to get a ride up the Mtn. on Sat. A dialogue about what type of food that will be prepared and served was had and it sounded like the Tri Tip and Chicken won. Jon J. said that he will work on the fermented Hops that comes in a big metal jug. Camping out near the LZ Saturday night and possible flying both days is allowed. Charlie and Donna volunteered to obtain the prizes for the Fly in. We talked about what types of competition that might be held: streamer drop, launch/landing judging and estimated time of landing in the olympic scoring format.

The gift for the land owner was discussed and a reminder that viruses have been a problem.

Mike O. gave a report on the process that is being undertaken to re establish the S.E. launch at Mt. Diablo and the meeting that WOR hosted. Fred B. also attended this meeting.

Anthony A. talked about the Kiting situation at Maxwell park and Jon J. added that there are no park rules that don't prevent take offs and landings. A ruling from Park Administration is pending.

There is no report about the lake Berryesa site except for the suggestion that the club look into a work party to remove/move rocks from the landing zone.

Flight reports about Mt. Diablo and Mt St. Helena where given. Discussion about launching at Mt. St Helena was talked about in great detail with suggestions as to what to do next.

The Elk Fly In will be held either April 12th and 13th or the 19th and 20th, stay tuned.

Both Jon J. and Ernie gave accounts of their USHPA BOD meeting in Colorado. Presentations about the Chapter support committee work, Site aquisitions and management, Marketing plans, Scooter towing closer to cities, committee meetings , USHPA headquarters tour, and the general meeting information was shared. The group talked about some ideas as to how to reimburse both Jon and Ernie for some of their expenses. The amount of money to be reimbursed was tabled until a later meeting.

The St John Fly in came to the surface with Leo J. being announced as the Meet Head. Leo is asking for all ideas about Tee Shirt art/design/renditons to be submitted as soon as possible. Volunteers are needed to help with committees: prizes; Charlie will chair, food; Donna will chair, T-shirts; Albert will chair. The original format of competition will be reinstituted. Previous St John fly ins have had as many as 40 pilots. A work party was suggested to work on the W. launch.

Next meeting April 24th in Santa Rosa/ Round Table. The Meeting was ajourned.
