Leo called the meeting to order with an announcement that membership dues would be collected during the meeting and to make sure that attendees have payed their 2009 dues.




Agenda items where announced; Sites: Dillon Beach, Safety, Club Calendar,Web site topics, Club competitions, Yosemite trip, Parachute packing clinic, hats and shirts for sale.





Ernie talked about developing a "Safety first" culture for self and for others with the reminder that Its good to speak up when you see something that isn't right and to respect the comments and suggestions that others make. Parachute repack and Inspections where talked about along with making sure that all of your equipment is in excellent working order before flying, with a reminder to do a Parachute pin check before every flight. Observe and check for wear and tear before the chute clinic. The Chute clinic is scheduled for the first week in March.





Site Discussions: Jon J. announced that the Goat rock permit paper work is soon due and will be turned along with the Mt. St Helena permit paper work that will be sent in. The Goat Rock launch areas where discussed with both PG and HG discussions and the reminder that it is against our permit to land on/by the main launch parking lot. The local bird population has revealed a new nest site for some fast flyers. Signage and other launches and landing zones where talked about and will be proposed to the Park later. A reminder that the current launch and landing zones are to be used and respected within there current boundaries was reinforced. The owners and the operators of Dillon Beach have expressed interest in having hang glider and para gliders use the training hills at Dillon Beach like they use to in the past. John D. has written a proposal that will be submitted to the Dillon Beach management. Sonoma Wings is proposing that the club provide site monitors to help regulate the site. Insurance, Monitor roles, guidelines, Instructors and calendars where discussed. Drakes Bay flying was talked about and the use permit was broached. The Mt. St. Helena launch situation was reintroduced and further negotiations with the land owners was talked about.






Club Calendar: Yosemite Club trip might be in Mid August or in June. King Mountain Championships will be from July 20th to 25th, The Spring Fly In (Mt. St. Helena) will be May 2nd -3rd, The Mt. St John Fly In will be August 8th and 9th, Lakeview will be the 4th of July week, The Hull Mtn. Fly In is scheduled for September 12th and 13th. Owens Valley trip could happen on Labor day September 7th. December 12th will be the annual Holiday Theme Party



John D. will be making a membership drive efforts at meetings and on line.




Club Competitions: Currently there are three club comps; 1 "Go for It", 2." Red Tail trophy" and the 3. defunct "coffee can" The" Go for it" is tallied on X-C flights the "Red Tail" is based on local/ regional sites and X-c flights. Rules and handicap systems to encourage the use of local sites and other regional sites was discussed. New rule for the two comps will be presented at the next meeting.




Web Site: A huge effort to clean up the existing website will need to be undertaken with volunteers needed to revamp site guides, and lay out issues. The Ex committee will meet to discuss the web site update topics. Ernie has spent many hours in administering the site and deserves a big Thank You from the club.
