It was a fine flying day and party. Thanks to Ernie and EC for all the barbecue work, Charley and Donna for their work with prizes and organization, Leo for
his work with the St. Park, Phillip, Kathy, and Steve? for driving, Jane for being a wonderful friend, and everyone else for making it fun. Here is my
approach and landing, my first attempt at video from my base tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Axz4F0vyMc

Thank you all that make the Sonoma Wings Club for planning such event. Grace, Kathleen and I had a great time. We really appreciate the time and effort that the club members put to make this happen.
I have flight footage and will post a video soon.
Thank you very much, Marcelo Luz |

Thanks again to everyone who helped to organize and work through this event. Especially Ernie, EC (damn fine meal!), Donna, and our drivers (
Kathy and Mike for helping us to get a Sunday flight in). I really respect the
way this club maintains good friendships with the landowners that make this possible. Really looking forward
to the Yosemite weekend.
Marcelo, I can't wait to see your close up videos in the gaggle ,
just kidding. Thanks for having us bay area hacks out for your shin dig.
I'll post some pictures soon as well. Ryan |

here's some pictures of the pilots meeting Saturday .
http://charlie-nelson.u.yuku.com/fs/ls/id/381264 Kathy and I had a memorable weekend at the fly in. Jane ,thanks for having us over , and having the field mowed . Good flying , both days were soarable, and the folks who attended , as usual, were a very bright , enjoyable and diverse crowd. Thanks Mike and Jeff for staying at launch Sunday to help me waggle my wing down through the dwarf pines . and my salute to Kathy for providing ground support both days. Ernie , we appreciate the ride up Saturday. and Jeff thanks for knowing NOT to launch your PG on Sunday , even though it looked light to me. It was definitely a 'HG only' day. . Ernie , EC, and others put on an enviable spread. Thanks for your efforts setting up and , the hard part , breaking down. It was great to have no fuss leftovers Sunday . Matt, the Red Tail lasted until every one was satisfied on Sunday 5 pm .gracias. Justin , I won a bottle of your merlot , can't wait to uncork and decant. Lots of great prizes were awarded, even for fourth place. Charley , the comp was a lot of fun. I liked the declared time part. Just wish I could have stayed up for 2:45.

I had a great time at the Fly In, too. Thanks to everyone who came and all those who made it happen.
I was so glad that Sandy, the new ranger, came to party with us. It was fun playing hacky sack with her and her daughter Kelly. They had a great time kiting Anthony's paraglider. What a difference a day makes. Leo |

Charlie:
The direct link to your photos doesn't work well. All, try this instead: 1. click "Charlie Nelson" to the left of his post. 2. in Charlie's profile, click the "view my images" button. 3. click the "St Helena Flyin Ma9 2009 Album" link. 4. click "slide show" under the first photo. BTW, everyone who has an ID for this bulletin board has some photo storage space on Yuku, as Charlie has used. And, I'd like to have all of you who have photos to upload them to our Sonoma Wings photo gallery. If you don't want to do that, is it OK for me to copy your photos over to our photo gallery? Ernie |

Ernie , copy my photos over to the photo gallery at will or at your leisure.. I was just experimenting on YUKU ; happened to see a mysterious
photos folder.
too bad the link wouldn't work. (I used to have a personal folder at photo gallery but it got lost when we went to YUKU.) I'd like to nominate Sandy to be the next El Presidente of SW. She is great people. Though a non member , my opinion still counts. correct , Ernie?.
BTW the new head ranger at Funston, also a woman , has attended Club meetings , and is sympathetic to HG. Charlie |

Thanks SW club for orgnizing the fly-in party. I had exciting flight Saturday. After launched in the sink cycle and lost by 300 feet below launch, I went way
too "north" (it is actually WSW, not North from the map!) with the wrong impression that I need to clear the "north" ridge (again, it is
WSW, not North) as shown in the red path blew vs. green path. I was about 2400" MSL when I got close to ridge below the lake on the red path. Luckly I got
a thermal took me back to 3500" MSL. 29 minutes later, I made back to LZ safe.
Sunday I had a good flight, finally went over the launch by 900 feet and flew over the valley by following the "green" path. St Helena flight is my first time to use almost full VG to escape minutes long big sinks. Full VG seems to be working very well. Thanks Wills Wing U2! BTW, Marcelo, great video, but don't you think it is left-right flipped cause how come you have VG on the left side? |

Li,
For some reason my camera did not save the settings to record upside down, so to my surprise when I saw the video for the first time it was upside down. I turned the video 180 degrees using the video editor and all the images were switched. What you see on the left is actually on the right and vice versa. Please send me an email, I would like to learn the trick to improve/increase the camera recording capacity. marceluz at hotmail dot com Thank you, Marcelo Luz |
