Leo called the meeting to order and then announce the news that the tower launch at Mt. St. Helena is back.The new gate lock was talked about along with other protocal for the use of the other launch. A reminder to minimize the dust when passing pedestrians
on the way up the Mtn and on the way down.
John D. announced and described his new site record set at the Hollister training/towing site. John caught a thermal after being towed aloft by the winch tow and specked out. Way to go John.
Jon J. reminded members to have a permit in the vehicle and that the rangers will be checking to see if permits are present. Make permits visible to the public.
The St. Helana Fly in we need to fill the slots and to invite the local landowners. Drivers need to be identified. A drawing for launch position will be held. Charlie will puchase priszes to be given out at the awards ceremony. Justin will donate some wine, Janes gift has been selected and purchased , Matt will be in charge of the beer selection, purchase and delivery. Ernie an E.C. will again be in charge of the food and food preperation. A question about what time to serve dinner was held and it was decided to serve dinner, later than previous years, at 5:00. Pilots meeting will be at 10:00 on Sat.. Donna will collect money for the fly in at the LZ. Membership will also be solicited at the LZ. Leo will provide the tarp for the spot landing, Ernie will provide the streamers for the streamer drop competition. Barbara will bring a cake, Jane will bring her famous salad, Side dishes will be encouraged, , Greg will bring oranges.
John D. talked about the Dillon Beach fund raising event that he went to and reports that a decsion about the future use of Dillon Beach will be made in May.
St. John Fly In Report: Greg S reports that the road to launch is clear. Ernie and E. C. will provide the food this year like they did last yeat. T-Shirt designs need to be submitted soon and those interested should give their ideas, drawings, concepts to Greg ASAP. There was talk about
the idea of sanctioning the St. John fly in with USPHA next year that had some heads moving. Waivers for this years event will be available at launch.
Memroial Day weekend flight plans and ideas where talked about with some talk about going to WoodRat. Pilots talked about flying St.Helena the coming weekend.
New quick release carabiners where talked about and maybe some will be used as prizes at the St. Helena fly in. Ordering some new
Sonoma Wings hats was thought to be a good idea.
The clean up of the Web site is in progress and a meeting will be scheduled at Ernies to focus on Website clean up.
Greg S.will manage the club comp scoring. and the Club comp rules are to be amended.
The Yosemite trip sign up on the calendar with a tentative date of June 13th . Camping, distances, timing, reservations and launch procedures where talked about.
The Elk Mtn para gliding flyin was talked about.
