I just spotted a news item where Youtube has upped the maximum file size to 2GB. I don't know what it was before.
The maximum length is still 10 minutes.
The larger file size limit allows HD content to be more-easily uploaded. But, you'll still probably need a converter program to shrink the size down to the 2GB limit. For example, my 10 min Yosemite video, run through my editing pgm, can end up with file sizes that range from around 93MB to 20GB in size (20,0000MB). I have had to run some through a second converter to shrink the size down even further.
This whole subject of output file formats for video is a real mess.
